Jaipur Metro: Key facts for travelers

Current Jaipur Metro service updates

Map notice: The available official JMRC network graphic is outdated. It still labels the operational Phase 1B section from Chandpole to Badi Chaupar as “under construction” and also depicts the proposed Phase 2. For current travel, only the 11-station Pink Line from Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar is in service; use the map for orientation and the current service details in this guide.

Festival schedules can differ from the standard pattern. Official delay and cancellation notices provide updates before travel, and the JMRC 24/7 helpline is available at 1800 202 4116.

The Jaipur Metro map shows one east-west route linking Mansarovar, Jaipur Junction, Sindhi Camp and the Old City around Badi Chaupar.

This guide explains the station order, tickets, service hours, visitor routes and expansion status for the compact Pink Line.

During the Old City tunnel works, both tunnel-boring machines passed beneath Chandpole Gate without causing damage or distress to the historic structure.

The open Pink Line is the East-West corridor from Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar. Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation Limited, or JMRC, operates this 11.6 km route. Current passenger information is available on the operator website.

The Jaipur Metro Pink Line contains 11 open stations. Eight are elevated and three are underground; there is no at-grade station. The newest section from Chandpole to Badi Chaupar entered commercial service on September 23, 2020.

The route links western Jaipur with central transport and market districts. Railway Station connects with Jaipur Junction, Sindhi Camp serves the bus stand, and Badi Chaupar serves the Old City.

The Jaipur Metro Pink Line does not reach every major Jaipur destination. Amber Fort, Jal Mahal and Jaipur International Airport remain outside the operational Jaipur Metro route map, so travelers need a surface connection for those trips.

Jaipur Metro station list: The Pink Line in order

The Jaipur Metro station list begins in western Jaipur:

Travelers heading toward the Old City take a train toward Badi Chaupar; westbound travelers take a train toward Mansarovar.

The Pink Line is most useful for Old City access and arrivals at Jaipur Junction or Sindhi Camp. Amber Fort, Jal Mahal and the airport have no direct operational metro connection, so the final leg or entire trip is by road.

An Indian Railways service listing gives 4 hours 30 minutes from Delhi Sarai Rohilla; a second timetable gives 3 hours 40 minutes from Agra Fort.

An RSRTC timetable search on August 15, 2026 showed journeys of about 6 hours from Delhi and 5 hours from Agra. Travelers should check the schedule for their date.

At Jaipur Junction, JMRC Railway Station is the metro connection. Metro Gate 2 has a dedicated surface connection to the railway station. The station-to-station walking route is about 540 m or seven minutes. From Railway Station Metro to Badi Chaupar, the standard fare is INR 15 (≈ USD 0.16) at the August 14, 2026 ECB reference rate.

Long-distance buses use the Central Bus Stand, Sindhi Camp, Jaipur. Sindhi Camp Metro Gate 1 is about 140 m from the mapped RSRTC terminal point, a walk of roughly two minutes.

Badi Chaupar is the most useful stop for the central sights. Its four street entrances open among Johari Bazaar, Tripolia Bazaar, Ramganj Bazaar and Hawa Mahal Bazaar. Gate 1 is about 200 m or three minutes from Hawa Mahal, about 550 m or seven minutes from City Palace Gate 1, and about 580 m or eight minutes from Jantar Mantar.

The southwest exit leads toward Johari Bazaar, where the first shops begin roughly one to two minutes away. Chandpole Bazaar is about 320 m or four minutes from the Chandpole east or Old City side.

Amber Fort and Jal Mahal sit north of the operational line. The Pink Line reaches Badi Chaupar, and the final leg continues along Amer Road by taxi or auto-rickshaw. The road distance is about 8.1 km to Amber Fort and 5.1 km to the Jal Mahal viewpoint.

Jaipur International Airport in Sanganer has no operational metro station. The airport ground transport options include bus, taxi, ride-hailing service and rental car; 24/7 prepaid taxis are available near arrivals. Travel time to Hawa Mahal varies with traffic.

New Aatish Market is the closer road-to-metro transfer, about 9.5 km from the airport, but that long transfer means a direct taxi or ride-hailing car is usually simpler for the Old City. A Jaipur Airport station belongs to planned Phase 2.

The Jaipur Metro fare structure uses four station-count bands. A standard journey costs INR 10 (≈ USD 0.10) to INR 30 (≈ USD 0.31), depending on the number of stations traveled.

The highest regular fare applies to trips covering nine or ten stations, while shorter journeys use the lower bands.

Products include single journeys, the JMRC Smart Card, one-day and three-day Tourist Cards, and discounted group tickets for 21 to 100 passengers.

Single journeys use Ticket Office Machines, Ticket Vending Machines and Customer Care Centres. Group paper tickets come from a Customer Care Centre.

JMRC is replacing recyclable tokens with paper and mobile QR tickets. Passengers should follow gate prompts; exit gates connect to the JMRC QR ticketing server.

Smart Card journeys receive a 10 percent discount. Tourist Cards provide unlimited travel for one or three business days and include refundable security of INR 50 (≈ USD 0.52).

An online Smart Card top-up is completed at an Add Value Machine near the customer-care area.

The JMRC public timetable, effective August 24, 2023, runs daily. First departures from Mansarovar and Badi Chaupar are at 5:20 AM; last departures from both terminals are at 10:21 PM.

For Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar, JMRC’s published timetable shows a 10-to-18-minute interval from 5:20 AM to 5:59 AM, 10 minutes from 6:00 AM to 9:50 PM, and a 15-to-16-minute interval from 9:51 PM to 10:21 PM. For Badi Chaupar to Mansarovar, it shows a 19-to-20-minute interval from 5:20 AM to 5:59 AM and 10 minutes from 6:00 AM to 9:21 PM.

Service can differ during festivals. On Dhulandi, March 3, 2026, trains were suspended from 5:20 AM to 2:00 PM and ran from 2:10 PM to 10:21 PM under a special holiday schedule.

After the metro closes, taxis and auto-rickshaws are the practical alternatives.

Stations use elevators and escalators, although availability can change. Passengers should allow extra time for entrance screening, which is supported by baggage scanners and metal-detector equipment.

The JMRC 24/7 helpline at 1800 202 4116 provides assistance with travel, ticketing and station concerns.

For current travel, the Jaipur Metro map covers only the open Pink Line from Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar. Phase 1C and Phase 1D are under construction, while Phase 2 remains planned.

An official project brief lists Phase 1C as under construction from Badi Chaupar to Transport Nagar. The 2.9 km extension adds underground Ramganj Chaupar and elevated Transport Nagar, with June 2028 as the official target.

Phase 1D is under construction as a separate 1.4 km elevated extension from Mansarovar to Ajmer Road Chauraha, also described as the 200 Feet Bypass. It adds one station and has an official June 2027 target.

Cabinet approval confirms that Phase 2 remains planned. Its Prahladpura-to-Todi Mod corridor covers 41 km and 36 stations, including 34 elevated and two underground stations, with September 2031 as the Cabinet target.

The planned Phase 2 underground section includes Sanganer PS and Jaipur Airport. The planned Jaipur Airport station does not change the current airport advice: there is no open airport metro link in 2026.

Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation Limited will implement Phase 2 as a 50:50 Government of India and Government of Rajasthan joint venture. A foundation-stone ceremony took place on July 4, 2026.

Major civil packages were still in procurement in August, so the Phase 2 date remains a target rather than an opening promise.

Jagatpura and Vaishali Nagar remain planned at DPR or study stage. No length, station count, or opening date has been approved for those study corridors.

Travelers should treat only Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar as open service; every corridor listed beyond it remains under construction or in planning.
