Hyderabad Metro Map 2026: Lines, Tickets & Fares

Hyderabad Metro at a glance

• Three fully elevated lines cover about 69 km and serve 57 unique stations, so every ride runs above street level.
• A single fare costs between INR 11 and INR 69 (approximately USD 0.11 to USD 0.72), depending on how far you travel.
• The first trains leave the terminals at 06:00 every day, the last ones at 23:00 on the Red and Blue Lines and 23:35 on the Green Line.
• You rarely wait long: trains come roughly every 4 to 12 minutes depending on the corridor and time of day, but the Metro does not run around the clock.
• Rajiv Gandhi International Airport still has no Metro station. One practical combination is the Red Line to LB Nagar and the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) Pushpak route AL bus, so confirm that connection locally before you rely on it.

This guide adds verified stations, fares, train times, tourist connections and an honest explanation of airport travel as checked on 21 July 2026.

Hyderabad Metro’s official line lists contain 60 station entries, but the operating network has 57 unique stations because three interchanges appear twice. Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL)’s service listing and timetable identify those interchanges as Ameerpet, MG Bus Station and JBS Parade Ground.

The three fully elevated, colour-coded lines cover about 69 km. HMRL’s official project history records that passenger service began in 2017 and that Phase I was developed as a design, build, finance, operate and transfer public-private partnership.

HMRL is the state-owned nodal agency, while the project company L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited (LTMRHL) is the concessionaire. LTMRHL remained the operator on 21 July 2026.

The agreed transfer of L&T’s full stake to the state-owned agency had not closed by 21 July 2026. An L&T filing lodged with the National Stock Exchange on 1 July revised the expected completion date to 30 September 2026, so the takeover was not yet finished.

L&T’s FY 2025-26 Integrated Report recorded average daily ridership of 417,000, compared with 444,000 in FY 2024-25. HMRL separately reported a rounded snapshot of about 450,000 daily riders in April 2026. The two figures use different reporting frames and should not be merged into one exact current value.

Hyderabad Metro lines and interchange stations

HMRL’s service listing has three operating routes. Planned Phase II corridors are not part of the active network and must not be read as available passenger lines.

• Red Line: Miyapur to LB Nagar, with 27 line-station entries. Change to Blue at Ameerpet and Green at MG Bus Station.
• Green Line: JBS Parade Ground to MG Bus Station, with 10 line-station entries. Change to Blue at JBS Parade Ground and Red at MG Bus Station.
• Blue Line: Nagole to Raidurg, with 23 line-station entries. Change to Red at Ameerpet and Green at JBS Parade Ground.

The three line lists contain 60 station entries. Subtracting the three duplicated interchange entries gives 57 physical stations. This distinction explains why HMRL’s service information can show both numbers without describing different operating networks.

The Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) is not a fourth Metro line. HMRL’s project history describes it as a separate suburban railway system jointly launched by the former state government and South Central Railway in August 2003.

HMRL lists connections at Secunderabad, Bharatnagar, Begumpet, Khairatabad, Lakdi-ka-pul and Malakpet. This does not mean every transfer is on the same platform or step-free.

Many visitor destinations require a Metro ride followed by a walk, local bus, taxi or autorickshaw. The nearest useful station is a starting point, not a promise that the attraction sits directly outside the gates.

For Old City trips, this Hyderabad Metro Map 2026 guide uses MG Bus Station as the active Green Line endpoint. Charminar is not an operating station. Travellers should continue by road from MGBS to Charminar, Salar Jung Museum, Chowmahalla Palace or the Mecca Masjid and Laad Bazaar area.

HITEC City station is close to Cyber Towers, while the same Blue Line stop is the preferred station for Shilparamam. Khairatabad serves the broad Hussain Sagar and Necklace Road catchment. The lakefront has several access points, so the final route depends on the destination.

Golconda Fort is not directly served. The operator lists it in Moosapet’s catchment, but visitors still face a substantial road transfer. Wonderla is also outside the active station list at ORR Exit 13 in Raviryal.

Does Hyderabad Metro go to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport?

No. Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad had no operating Metro station on 21 July 2026.

The Telangana Government’s June 2026 update said the revised detailed project report for the proposed 36.8 km Nagole to RGIA corridor was awaiting central approval and clearances.

One practical combination supported by HMRL and TGSRTC route information is the Red Line to LB Nagar and TGSRTC Pushpak route AL. The TGSRTC listing describes Pushpak as a round-the-clock air-conditioned airport service with onboard ticket sales.

TGSRTC’s current full-route fare was INR 350 from the city to RGIA and INR 400 from RGIA to the city on 21 July 2026.

The airport’s own page conflicted on the pickup location, naming both D and E/Pillar 9. Follow current terminal signs rather than relying on a fixed bay in this guide.

L&T Metro’s current fare chart uses ten distance bands, from journeys up to 2 km to journeys longer than 24 km.

The paid range is INR 11 to INR 69 after the 10 percent discount that took effect across all zones and corridors on 24 May 2025.

The operator’s ticketing page lists paper QR tickets, digital QR tickets, contactless Smart Cards and tokens. The figures below were checked on 21 July 2026.

USD conversions use the IMF representative rate of INR 96.2537 per USD 1 on that date and exclude card or bank conversion fees.

Paper QR tickets are sold at station counters and scanned at both entry and exit. Tokens are tapped at entry and deposited at exit. Station counters accept cash, debit or credit cards and UPI.

A contactless Smart Card costs INR 100 as a non-refundable card fee. One passenger needs one card.

Station recharges range from INR 50 to INR 3,000 in INR 50 steps, while online recharges range from INR 100 to INR 3,000 in INR 100 steps.

Online card top-ups are available through PhonePe, Paytm and TSavaari. They may take roughly 20 minutes to two hours to appear at the entry gate, so do not assume an immediate update.

The official TSavaari app is available for Android and iOS. Both store listings identify LTMRHL as the developer or provider.

Digital QR tickets support single and return journeys.

The service is not open 24 hours. HMRL’s timetable, checked on 21 July 2026, gives first terminal departures at 06:00 every day. Last terminal departures are at 23:00 on Red and Blue and 23:35 on Green.

The published 06:00, 23:00 and 23:35 times are terminal departures, not promises for every intermediate station. Arrive earlier for the final train.

HMRL’s service listing supports a cautious frequency range of roughly 4 to 12 minutes, depending on corridor and time of day.

On 21 July 2026, the Telangana Government’s 122.9 km, seven-corridor Phase II package remained under central consideration. Its estimated cost was INR 38,595 crore, and approval and clearances were still being requested on 11 June 2026.

Hyderabad Metro Phase 2 and the airport corridor

HMRL’s older Phase II(A) project page lists five corridors totalling 76.4 km: Nagole to RGIA, Raidurg to Kokapet, MGBS to Chandrayangutta, Miyapur to Patancheru and LB Nagar to Hayat Nagar. It records the package as submitted, not as a fully approved operating expansion.

The newer May 2026 government framing covers seven Phase II corridors over 122.9 km. It assigns the RGIA to Bharat Future City corridor to Phase III, showing why older Phase II(A) and Phase II(B) labels should not be mixed with the latest package.

Official sources documented only limited preparatory work. Old City land acquisition, demolition and pillar marking progressed in 2025. A 2026 HMRL procurement sought a general consultant for the 7.5 km, six-station MGBS to Chandrayangutta corridor. No official opening date was verified for Phase II or the airport corridor.

Hyderabad Metro history, safety and accessibility

The first section was inaugurated on 28 November 2017 and opened to passengers the next day. It connected Miyapur and Nagole over 30 km with 24 stations.

Verified accessibility features include low lift controls, wide gates, tactile guidance, audio announcements and accessible toilets. Wheelchairs can be requested from station Customer Care, and staff assistance is available. This does not justify claiming that every transfer is completely step-free.

Each train provides six reserved seats for disabled passengers, 21 for women and 14 for senior citizens. Ladies-only coach space also remains available.

From 1 December 2025, 20 trained transgender security personnel were deployed at selected stations and on trains.

Security measures include continuous CCTV in stations and trains, staffed stations, metal detectors, handheld scanners and baggage screening. Platforms have emergency stop buttons, while train passengers can use a call button to contact the operator.

Fun Fact: Passenger service opened on 29 November 2017 with a 30 km, 24-station section between Miyapur and Nagole.
