Bangalore Metro Map 2026: Key facts at a glance

• Three lines are running today: Purple, Green and Yellow, together covering 96.1 km and 83 physical stations.
• A single journey costs between INR 10 and INR 90 (approximately USD 0.10 to USD 0.94), depending on how many stations you travel.
• On the Yellow Line you wait about 7 minutes at weekday peaks and 10 minutes at all other weekday times, as well as throughout Saturday and Sunday.
• Kempegowda International Airport still has no metro station, so the practical public transport option is a BMTC Vayu Vajra airport bus.
• Namma Metro does not run around the clock, and every line has its own first and last departures for each day group, so check the times before a late trip.

The Namma Metro map and Bengaluru Metro map describe the same system. This guide separates the three operating lines from construction projects and explains interchanges, current fares, ticket channels, line timetables and airport alternatives.

The opening of the 19.2 km Yellow Line added a direct rail corridor toward Electronic City and brought the city’s rail network to three operational lines. The line was officially inaugurated on 10 August 2025 and is fully part of the 2026 network.

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited, or BMRCL, implements and operates Namma Metro as a joint venture between India’s national government and the Government of Karnataka. The first passenger section opened on 20 October 2011.

The operational system covers 96.1 km and 83 physical stations. BMRCL also reports about 950,000 average daily riders without specifying a measurement period.

Station totals need one important qualification. The operational network contains 83 distinct physical stations, but adding the stations line by line produces 85 appearances. Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station, commonly called Majestic, appears on both the Purple and Green lines, while RV Road appears on both the Green and Yellow lines.

Travelling from the Purple Line toward Electronic City requires two changes on the current operational map: Purple to Green at Majestic, then Green to Yellow at RV Road. At RV Road, follow the Yellow Line direction for Delta Electronics Bommasandra.

Since 3 June 2026, the Yellow Line has used ten trains. Its scheduled interval is 7 minutes during weekday peaks and 10 minutes outside weekday peaks and throughout Saturday and Sunday.

Namma Metro lines: Purple, Green and Yellow

• Purple Line: Whitefield (Kadugodi) ↔ Challaghatta, 43.5 km. Change to the Green Line at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station and use this line for Cubbon Park, Vidhana Soudha and MG Road.
• Green Line: Madavara ↔ Silk Institute, 33.5 km. Change to Purple at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station or Yellow at RV Road. Lalbagh and the stations serving ISKCON are on this line.
• Yellow Line: RV Road ↔ Delta Electronics Bommasandra, 19.2 km with 16 line stations. It links the Green Line at RV Road with the corridor toward Electronic City.

How to read the Bangalore Metro map

1. Find the line colour that serves the destination.
2. Use the terminus name to choose the correct platform direction.
3. Change between Purple and Green at Majestic or between Green and Yellow at RV Road.
4. Keep future Pink and Blue corridors separate from the operating 2026 network.

The operating snapshot below keeps open lines separate from construction projects and avoids mixing future interchanges into the current route schematic.

The Purple Line provides direct station access for several central sights, while the Green Line is useful for Lalbagh and ISKCON. Visitors should allow for a short walk at some destinations and verify the correct boarding direction before entering the platform.

For a first trip, select the origin and destination in the official app or WhatsApp service, pay digitally and scan the QR code at entry and exit. Follow the line colour and terminus. Change at Majestic or RV Road where required.

Cubbon Park, Vidhana Soudha and MG Road are reached from stations on the Purple Line. Lalbagh and Mahalakshmi for ISKCON are on the Green Line. The destinations table below pairs every listed sight with a line, station and practical arrival note.

Kempegowda International Airport has no operating metro station as of 22 July 2026. The future Blue Line airport corridor remains under construction, so travellers should use a route-specific BMTC Vayu Vajra airport bus or another ground transfer.

As of 22 July 2026, BMRCL’s current fare system charges by the number of stations travelled, excluding the starting station. The verified range is INR 10 to INR 90.

The fare reform took effect on 9 February 2025. A further increase announced for 9 February 2026 was officially suspended before it took effect.

As of 22 July 2026, BMRCL offers single-journey QR tickets, contactless Smart Cards or National Common Mobility Cards, group tickets and one-, three- or five-day products.

USD figures in the ticket table use the ECB cross-rate for 21 July 2026, rounded to USD 1.00 equalling INR 96.24.

Why can a longer Namma Metro trip cost noticeably more? The current passenger table uses nine station-count bands. The amount rises with the number of stations travelled, while card and mobile QR discounts can reduce the charge.

As of 22 July 2026, BMRCL charges INR 10 for 1 to 2 stations, INR 20 for 3 to 4, INR 30 for 5 to 6, INR 40 for 7 to 8 and INR 50 for 9 to 10. Journeys of 11 or more stations cost INR 60 for 11 to 15, INR 70 for 16 to 20, INR 80 for 21 to 25 and INR 90 for 26 or more.

As of 22 July 2026, travellers can buy a QR journey through the Namma Metro-BMRCL official app or BMRCL’s WhatsApp chatbot at +91 81055 56677. BMRCL also lists Paytm and Yatra as QR channels.

Each BMRCL QR ticket is scanned at entry and exit and remains valid on its purchase day. The official app name is identical on Android and iOS. The Android developer is BMRCL, while the iOS provider is Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited.

BMRCL lists Smart Card top-ups at stations by cash, card or UPI and through listed digital channels. Group tickets are paper tickets for at least 25 people making the same trip. Station counters sell them with discounts starting at 10 percent.

Smart Card and NCMC journeys receive 5 percent off during peak periods and 10 percent off during official off-peak periods from Monday to Saturday. The 10 percent discount applies all day on Sundays and on 26 January, 15 August and 2 October. BMRCL applies a 5 percent discount to mobile QR tickets compared with the token fare.

Namma Metro does not run 24 hours. BMRCL maintains separate timetables for Purple, Green and Yellow and separates each line into Monday, Tuesday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday schedules.

Since 3 June 2026, BMRCL has scheduled ten Yellow Line trains with 7-minute weekday peak intervals, 10-minute weekday non-peak intervals and 10-minute service throughout Saturday and Sunday.

Exact first and last departures for all lines should be checked through the Timetable information button above. BMRCL notes that additional trains or planned engineering work can alter operations.

There is no continuous overnight metro service. For airport travel, this is especially important because no operating metro line reaches Kempegowda International Airport.

The official T2 directory lists 21 BMTC airport routes. Examples include KIA-05 via MG Road, KIA-09 to Kempegowda Bus Station and KIA-10 to Mysore Road Bus Station. Departure times vary by route, so travellers should check the route-specific Vayu Vajra schedule before setting out.

Purple, Green and Yellow are the operating lines. As of 22 July 2026, Pink and Blue remained under construction, and BMRCL had not confirmed a passenger opening date for either corridor.

Namma Metro expansion: Pink, Blue and airport corridor

The remaining Phase 2 corridor associated with the Pink Line is 21.3 km and was under construction as of 22 July 2026. BMRCL had not confirmed a passenger opening date.

Blue Phase 2A runs 19.8 km from Central Silk Board to KR Puram with 13 elevated stations. Blue Phase 2B continues 38.4 km from KR Puram to Kempegowda International Airport with 16 elevated stations and one underground station. Both sections remain under construction.

BMRCL’s planned Blue Line corridor combines Phase 2A and Phase 2B over 58.2 km from Central Silk Board through KR Puram to KIA. As of 22 July 2026, it was not an operating airport service.

Phase 3 is sanctioned at 44.7 km and 31 stations. The Phase 3A detailed project report for Sarjapur to Hebbal was still being prepared as of 22 July 2026.

Namma Metro and Bengaluru Suburban Rail are separate systems

Bengaluru Suburban Rail is not a Namma Metro line. K-RIDE is the implementing agency for the separate suburban project, which has four corridors totalling 148.2 km and 57 stations. Corridors 2 and 4 were under construction in spring 2026, with rolling stock in procurement.

The separate suburban corridor graphic must not be presented as a Bengaluru Metro map. For trip planning, use the BMRCL operational asset for Namma Metro and treat future suburban rail information as a different network.

Fun Fact: The first Namma Metro passenger section opened on 20 October 2011 between MG Road and Baiyappanahalli. The 7 km opening segment marked the start of the current 96.1 km operational system.
