Kochi Metro Map 2026: Key Facts at a Glance

The Kochi Metro map shows the open rail corridor from Aluva to Thrippunithura. This Kochi Metro route map contains 25 stations on one Blue Line. The Pink Line project and Water Metro ferries are separate.

Use the map to identify the correct station before travelling. Fort Kochi, Mattancherry and Cochin International Airport all require an onward connection outside the rail network.

Kochi Metro’s open Blue Line runs from Aluva to Thrippunithura, serving 25 stations across about 28 km. The current station information from Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) confirms the endpoints and station total.

Kochi’s rail network reached Thrippunithura in March 2024, almost seven years after the first Aluva to Palarivattom section began carrying passengers in June 2017. Its unusual local context is the separate Kochi Water Metro ferry network, which is not part of the rail line.

KMRL operates and maintains the railway. A May 2026 operator notice records the company as a 50:50 joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Kerala.

The current network consists of one corridor, Line 1 or the Blue Line. The 28 km rail total excludes suburban trains, conventional ferries and Kochi Water Metro.

How to Use the Kochi Metro Map

Use the operational map only for the open Blue Line between Aluva and Thrippunithura. Fort Kochi, Mattancherry and Cochin International Airport need an onward road or ferry connection.

The Pink Line is under construction and Kochi Water Metro is a separate ferry system. Neither belongs in the open Blue Line station count or rail-map total.

The official KMRL network map still shows the southern Petta-Thrippunithura arm as under construction; this section has been in full operation since 2024.

The Blue Line links the open corridor, but several waterfront sights need a final walk, road transfer or ferry. The destinations matrix below makes those changes explicit.

Fort Kochi and Mattancherry are not direct rail-metro destinations. LuLu Mall and Kaloor Stadium have much simpler final approaches from Edapally and JLN Stadium respectively.

Does the Metro in Kochi Go to Cochin International Airport?

No. The rail line does not currently serve Cochin International Airport (COK) directly. Take the Blue Line to Aluva, then continue by KMRL’s Pavan Doot feeder bus or taxi.

Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) lists the KMRL-operated feeder among its airport transport options. KMRL describes Pavan Doot as an air-conditioned electric bus between Aluva Metro Station and the airport.

The road section is about 12 km according to an official connectivity map. No reliable 2026 fare, frequency or guaranteed journey time was established, so allow extra transfer time.

CIAL provides prepaid taxi counters at both the Domestic and International terminals around the clock. A future Phase III rail connection is at detailed-project-report planning stage and must not be mistaken for an open airport extension.

The five destinations distinguish direct metro access from separate road and ferry legs. Check the station and practical note before setting out.

Kochi Water Metro and State Water Transport Department ferries are separate from the rail network.

A standard rail fare is based on the selected origin and destination stations. KMRL’s current matrix uses INR 10, INR 20, INR 30, INR 40, INR 50 and INR 60.

At the International Monetary Fund reference rate for 22 July 2026, those fares equal about USD 0.10, USD 0.21, USD 0.31, USD 0.41, USD 0.52 and USD 0.62 respectively.

Station counters sell QR tickets and accept the payment methods listed by KMRL. The Kochi1 Card is tapped at both entry and exit gates, where the system deducts the fare automatically.

The official Kochi1 app sells single and return rail QR tickets. Scan the code at both gates. The verified listings are available from the Android store listing and iOS store listing; Axis Bank is the listed provider.

The Kochi1 Card also gives a 20% discount on every metro ride. Regular travellers can buy passes: a 30-day pass carries a 25% discount and a 60-day pass a 33% discount (KMRL, Kochi1 Card).

KMRL allows up to 120 minutes between entry and exit at the destination. Up to three accompanied children no taller than 90 cm travel free, except in group bookings.

Kochi Metro Timings: First and Last Trains

KMRL’s timetable effective 17 February 2026 lists a service window of 6:00 am to 11:00 pm Monday to Saturday in both directions. The same hours apply on public holidays.

Sunday service runs from 7:30 am to 11:00 pm. The railway is not a 24-hour system, and no verified official night replacement was available for this draft.

Monday to Saturday intervals are 7 minutes 13 seconds in KMRL’s morning and evening peak category and 8 minutes 30 seconds outside that category. KMRL does not publish the current clock boundaries for the peak category.

On Sundays, the published interval is 9 minutes 5 seconds. Public-holiday trains run every 9 minutes 45 seconds from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm and every 11 minutes at other operating times.

The operator publishes service windows rather than minute-specific first and last departures from each terminus. Check the current timetable shortly before travel.

Kochi Phase 2 Metro: What Is Under Construction?

The 2026 map needs one clear boundary: the Blue Line is open, the Pink Line is being built, and Kochi Water Metro uses ferries rather than rails. Shared institutions and ticketing do not turn them into one route network.

KMRL’s current project status describes Phase 2, also called the Pink Line, as an 11.2 km extension from JLN Stadium to Infopark via Kakkanad. It has 11 stations including the existing interchange at JLN Stadium.

The ten new elevated stations are Palarivattom Junction, Palarivattom Bypass, Chembumukku, Vazhakkala, Padamughal, Kakkanad, Cochin SEZ, Chittethukara, KINFRA and Infopark.

Phase 2 remains under construction as of 23 July 2026. The operator’s tender register records track, traction, SCADA, telecommunications and related package awards in May 2026, while environmental-compliance monitoring was still being tendered in June and July.

These contracts supersede older completion forecasts. No current primary source provides a reliable percentage or binding opening date, so the Pink Line must not appear open on the Kochi Metro map.

Kochi Water Metro: A Separate Ferry Network

Kochi Water Metro is a separate urban ferry network, not part of the Blue Line. Its 2023-24 corporate report records Kochi Water Metro Limited as a company owned 74% by the Government of Kerala and 26% by KMRL.

The operator overview describes electric-hybrid ferries connecting mainland terminals with island communities. Integrated ticketing allows passengers to use Kochi1 across rail and Water Metro; the official product FAQ confirms that the Kochi1 app can issue Water Metro QR tickets.

Common ticketing does not mean common fares. The INR 10 to INR 60 rail matrix does not apply to Water Metro, and ferry routes are excluded from rail station and length totals.

Fun Fact: Kochi was the first Indian city to launch a Water Metro project. The separate electric-hybrid ferry network is designed to connect ten island communities with the mainland, but it is not counted as part of the rail network.

How Many Metro Trains Operate in Kochi?

A current official total for rail trainsets or coaches was not established in the 2026 primary-source research. This page therefore does not present an older number as current.
