Ahmedabad Metro Map 2026: Key facts at a glance

• The system has four operating lines and 53 unique stations across Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and GIFT City, with three interchange stations connecting the network.
• Standard single fares range from INR 5.00 (≈ USD 0.05) to INR 40.00 (≈ USD 0.42), while an NCMC gives 10% off the applicable fare.
• Most city services begin around 6:20 AM, but the last departures vary sharply by line; the latest regular terminal departure is 11:10 PM from APMC.
• Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport has no operating metro station. A taxi, ride-hailing service or auto-rickshaw to central Ahmedabad generally takes about 30 to 50 minutes, depending on traffic.

The Ahmedabad Metro map shows the network across Ahmedabad and its rail connections into Gandhinagar and GIFT City. This guide explains the operating lines and stations, ticket prices, practical visitor connections, timetables and the status of future corridors.

Ahmedabad Metro connects the Historic City of Ahmadabad, India’s first UNESCO World Heritage City, with GIFT City, a financial and technology hub in the Gandhinagar region. The system is operated by Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) Limited, usually shortened to GMRC.

This Ahmedabad Metro route map reflects GMRC’s project overview updated August 14, 2026. Page 1 shows the Phase I project map, and page 2 shows the Phase II project map.

GMRC’s current project figures show that the network spans 68.2 km and serves 53 unique operating stations. Phase 1 contributes 40.0 km and Phase 2 adds 28.2 km. Gandhinagar is a separate city and the capital of Gujarat, not an Ahmedabad neighborhood.

Most of the Ahmedabad Metro system runs above ground. It has 61.7 km of elevated infrastructure and 6.5 km underground. The underground section contains Kankaria East, Kalupur Metro Station, Gheekanta and Shahpur; Old High Court is elevated.

The first Vastral Gam to Apparel Park section was inaugurated on March 4, 2019. A 32.1 km portion of Phase 1 entered service in October 2022, Thaltej Gam followed on December 8, 2024, and the final Phase 2 section reached Mahatma Mandir on January 11, 2026.

Line colors help readers follow the network map, but GMRC names the services by number. Old High Court connects Lines 1 and 2, Koteshwar Road connects Lines 2 and 3, and GNLU connects Lines 3 and 4.

Where Ahmedabad Metro works well, and where Janmarg still matters

The Ahmedabad rail network is most useful for trips along the east-west and north-south axes, including Kalupur, Motera, Gandhinagar, GIFT City and Mahatma Mandir. It does not provide door-to-door coverage across the metropolitan area.

Janmarg BRTS or another AMTS connection may suit a destination several kilometers from a station. An auto-rickshaw, taxi or ride-hailing service is often more practical for luggage, midday heat, reduced mobility, late arrivals or the final stretch beyond either network.

The Ahmedabad Metro map is especially useful for reaching the old city, Kalupur, Motera and the Gandhinagar corridor. Several major sights still require a walk or road connection, so station proximity should never be mistaken for direct access.

Arriving by train: Kalupur and Ahmedabad Metro connections

For Ahmedabad Junction, also called Kalupur Railway Station, leave Line 1 at Kalupur Metro Station and follow railway signs. GMRC identifies an Indian Railways interchange here, but redevelopment can change walking routes, so allow extra time with luggage.

Kalupur Metro Station is about 0.5 km or a six-minute walk from Ahmedabad Junction. The station has elevators and lies in the underground section.

Fares depend on the selected route. GMRC’s current fare calculator lists standard single journeys from INR 5.00 (≈ USD 0.05) to INR 40.00 (≈ USD 0.42).

Group tickets are available for at least ten travelers. GMRC’s current fare rules list single, return and group tickets, but do not show separate prices for return or group tickets and do not list a day pass.

Single journeys are available as paper or mobile QR tickets. NCMC cards are accepted at the gates and provide a 10% fare discount. GMRC contactless tokens and smart cards are restricted to Phase 1 travel.

Ticket windows accept cash, UPI and POS debit or credit cards. The official app accepts UPI, cards and net banking for mobile QR tickets. Enter within 30 minutes with paper QR or 180 minutes with mobile QR, and keep the original ticket until the journey ends.

Scan a QR ticket at the gates. With NCMC, tap in and tap out; the fare is deducted at exit and the journey receives a 10% discount. Online NCMC value must be validated at the Customer Care Window before use.

Accessibility features include wide gates, tactile paths, ramps, elevators, wheelchairs, Braille controls, wheelchair spaces and accessible washrooms. Allow time for station security checks; stations also have fire, alarm and evacuation systems. Luggage is limited to 25 kg and 80 x 50 x 30 cm.

Ahmedabad Metro operating hours vary substantially by line. Under GMRC’s schedule effective May 18, 2026, trains on Line 1 depart from both termini between 6:20 AM and 11:00 PM. Weekday peaks run every seven minutes; Saturday peak periods run every 10 minutes, Saturday off-peak and Sunday service every 12 minutes, and daily early and late service every 20 minutes.

Line 2 starts at 6:20 AM from APMC and 6:16 AM from Koteshwar Road. Its last trains leave at 11:10 PM and 11:00 PM, respectively. Trains run every 12 minutes every day until 10:00 PM, then every 20 minutes.

Line 3 runs daily from 6:55 AM to 9:20 PM at Koteshwar Road and from 6:40 AM to 9:00 PM at Mahatma Mandir. Its average interval is 40 minutes from 6:40 to 8:00 AM and 24 minutes from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Line 4 operates a limited GIFT City pattern. Departures span 7:36 AM to 6:57 PM from GNLU and 7:48 AM to 7:13 PM from GIFT City. Between 10:18 AM and 4:06 PM, the timetable lists bus services only.

GMRC does not operate a 24-hour service, and ticket counters close five minutes before the last scheduled train. Event extensions are announced separately. For a public holiday or time-critical trip, consult the current train information before travel.

The first Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2 service opened on September 16, 2024, between Motera Stadium and Sector-1 and on the GNLU to GIFT City branch. The remaining Sector-10A to Mahatma Mandir section opened on January 11, 2026, completing Phase 2.

GIFT City is reached on the Line 4 branch from GNLU. Some services run directly from APMC: one scheduled example leaves at 6:45 AM and arrives at 7:42 AM. Other journeys may require a change at GNLU, so follow the destination display.

East-west passengers first change at Old High Court from Line 1. Mahatma Mandir lies on Line 3 in Gandhinagar, not on the GIFT City branch; select a Mahatma Mandir-bound service.

The Cabinet’s approval of the airport extension covers 6.0 km and five stations from Koteshwar Road, including one underground airport station. Phase 2A is approved and in procurement, with a four-year implementation window rather than a guaranteed opening date.

The Cabinet approval for Phase 2B covers 3.3 km and three elevated stations from GIFT City toward Shahpur. Its civil package has been tendered, while passenger service continues to end at GIFT City.

Phase 3 remains proposed. The scopes include Thaltej Gam to Canal Road at 3.3 km with three stations, Godhavi to Badrabad at 19.9 km with 12 stations, and an APMC ring concept at 36.2 km with 26 elevated stations. No Phase 3 corridor has an official opening date.
