The Doha Metro map brings the Red, Green and Gold lines together in a compact network. This guide explains the lines, airport connection, ticket options, operating hours and the distinction between the Metro, Lusail Tram and Metrolink.

Doha Metro passenger service began on May 8, 2019. The network is fully driverless. Qatar Rail owns the assets and acts as contracting authority, while RKH Qitarat operates and maintains the network under a 20-year contract.

Qatar Metro Map: All Lines

Doha Metro is a young, fully driverless network. Qatar Rail’s 2024 Sustainability Report records a network of 76 km and 37 stations, while passenger service began on May 8, 2019.

Msheireb is the central interchange because all three lines meet there. Change at Msheireb whenever a journey requires a transfer between the Red, Green and Gold lines.

Qatar Rail reported 60.7 million trips in 2024 across the Metro and Lusail Tram combined. That figure covers both systems and is neither a Metro-only passenger total nor a count of unique travelers.

Metro Lines and Stations in Doha

The official bilingual Qatar Rail network map above was archived from the operator’s website on September 16, 2022. For easier viewing and download, the map image is also provided in an editorial PDF container. It shows these line endpoints:

  • Red Line: Al Wakra ↔ Lusail QNB, with a branch serving Hamad International Airport Terminal 1.
  • Green Line: Al Mansoura ↔ Al Riffa (Mall of Qatar), with Education City on the line.
  • Gold Line: Ras Bu Abboud ↔ Al Aziziyah, serving Souq Waqif and National Museum.

Doha Rail Connections: Metro, Lusail Tram and Metrolink

Lusail Tram is separate from the Metro, although transfers are available at Legtaifiya and Lusail QNB and the same Travel Card works on both networks. Tap in and out at tram validators for Lusail Tram journeys; use the station gates for Metro journeys.

Metrolink is the feeder-bus network supporting Metro journeys. Route details can change; Mowasalat introduced M307 and M308 on May 10, 2026 with a 20-minute interval for those two routes, not for the entire Metrolink network.

Doha Travel by Metro: Airport and Top Sights

The rail network is useful for airport travel and several major sights, although some destinations require a final walk or tram ride. Hamad International Airport Terminal 1 is on the Red Line. Msheireb and West Bay Qatar Energy are normally on the same line, so neither journey requires a change.

Airport journey times vary by destination, direction and day. Check the specific trip before a late airport journey, because first and last trains are station-specific.

Use the destination matrix to choose the line and station, then allow time for the final walk or tram connection where noted.

More Information About the Metro in Doha: Expansion and Fun Fact

The older Ministry of Transport masterplan places the named Doha Metro Blue Line schemes in Phase 3. It also includes further Red, Green and Gold extensions in long-term planning.

The Ministry of Transport began developing a new public transport masterplan in April 2025. Its June 22, 2026 workshop update focused on network assessment, future priorities and an implementation framework, but named no Blue Line construction start, procurement process or opening date.

Fun Fact: Doha’s stations share a design language called Vaulted Spaces. UNStudio’s project description traces its forms to Qatari arches, dhow sails and nomadic tents, with oyster-inspired interiors creating a mother-of-pearl effect.
