Pune Metro Map: Key facts at a glance

• The Pune Metro map shows two operating Maha Metro corridors, Purple from PCMC to Swargate and Aqua from Vanaz to Ramwadi; Line 3 is a separate PMRDA/PPP project.
• Single journeys cost INR 10 (≈ USD 0.10) to INR 35 (≈ USD 0.37), depending on the selected origin and destination.

Current Pune Metro service updates

Purple and Aqua trains use the published 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM window; passengers can review current timetable information before travel.

The Pune Metro map above separates the operating Purple and Aqua corridors from extensions and the separate PMRDA Line 3 project.

This guide covers the Pune Metro station list, ticket prices, service hours, visitor routes and expansion status without combining the two operators’ networks.

The first sections of Pune Metro opened to passengers in March 2022. Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited, branded Maha Metro, now operates the PCMC to Swargate Purple corridor and Vanaz to Ramwadi Aqua corridor, as shown in its current project profile. The Civil Court to Swargate section opened on September 29, 2024.

The Purple Line is 17.5 km long with 14 listed stations, 13 of them open to passengers. Its 6.1 km underground portion includes Shivajinagar, Civil Court, Kasba Peth, Mahatma Phule Mandai and Swargate.

The Aqua Line is a 15.8 km fully elevated corridor with 16 open stations. The two operating lines meet at Civil Court, where stairs, escalators and elevators connect the underground Purple platforms with the elevated Aqua platforms.

The Purple and Aqua line lists contain 30 station entries, 29 of which are open. Line 3 is excluded from this Maha Metro total.

Civil Court appears in both lists as the interchange, so 30 entries do not mean 30 distinct stations. The Pune Metro route map also distinguishes open corridors from extensions.

The two operating corridors cover parts of central Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and the east-west axis. Journeys to the airport, Kharadi and Hinjawadi still require a road connection.

Pune Metro station list: Purple and Aqua lines

The Purple Line runs north to south in this official order:

• PCMC: open northern terminus in Pimpri-Chinchwad. The current passenger list uses PCMC, not PCMC Bhavan.
• Sant Tukaram Nagar: open.
• Bhosari (Nashik Phata): open.
• Kasarwadi: open.
• Phugewadi: open.
• Dapodi: open.
• Bopodi: open.
• Khadki: open since June 21, 2025.
• Range Hill: not open to passengers on August 15, 2026.
• Shivajinagar: open underground station.
• Civil Court: open underground station and interchange with the Aqua Line.
• Kasba Peth (Budhwar Peth): open underground station.
• Mahatma Phule Mandai: open underground station.
• Swargate: open underground southern terminus and interchange for intercity and interstate buses.

The Aqua Line runs west to east in this official order, and all 16 stations are open:

How to read the Pune Metro map

The route graphic combines current service with extensions and the separately managed Line 3 project. Four checks keep trip planning clear:

1. Follow Purple between PCMC and Swargate or Aqua between Vanaz and Ramwadi for current Maha Metro journeys.
2. Use the terminus shown on the train and platform to set the correct direction.
3. Change between Purple and Aqua at Civil Court.
4. Use the status table before treating an extension or Line 3 as part of a passenger journey.

Pune Metro Line 3: PMRDA ownership, targets and interchange

Line 3 is a separate public-private partnership led by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). The PMRDA project record names Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited (PITCMRL), which holds the 35-year DBFOT concession; Keolis has the initial 10-year operations and maintenance contract.

The 23.2 km elevated project has 23 stations from Maan to District Court, one stop beyond Shivajinagar, and is designed to link Hinjawadi with central Pune.

PMRDA set July 15, 2026 as a first-phase target and December 2026 as the full-operation target for Shivajinagar. Both remain targets. Hinjawadi trip plans should retain a road option; Maha Metro fares and service hours cover Purple and Aqua.

A planned skywalk will link District Court and Civil Court. Line 3 includes the One Pune Card, but no through-fare arrangement, cross-operator QR validity or paid-area transfer rule has been announced.

The Pune Metro map is most useful for planning trips to the historic center, Pune Junction and destinations along the east-west Aqua corridor. For airport, Hinjawadi and Kharadi journeys, road connections are the practical choice.

For Shaniwar Wada, Kasba Peth on the Purple Line is the practical stop. The walking route is about 0.6 km and takes roughly eight minutes; PMC on the Aqua Line is an alternative.

For Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple, Mahatma Phule Mandai is about 0.8 km away, roughly a 10-minute walk. PMC is an alternative, but its walking route is about 1.3 km and 18 minutes.

Pataleshwar Cave Temple is a short local walk from Shivajinagar on the Purple Line.

Pune Junction connects directly by foot-overbridge to the concourse at Pune Railway Station on the Aqua Line. This is the clearest rail-to-metro transfer for visitors arriving on Indian Railways services.

Aga Khan Palace is about 1.2 km, or roughly 16 minutes on foot, from Kalyani Nagar; an auto-rickshaw or taxi may be easier.

For Hinjawadi, PCMC is about 12.2 km away by road; traffic can lengthen bus, auto-rickshaw or taxi journeys.

Pune Airport, code PNQ, is in Lohegaon and has no direct metro. Its ground-transport information lists PMPML buses and taxis. Ramwadi is about 4.3 km away by road; an uncongested trip takes roughly eight minutes, but traffic can add time.

Maha Metro uses an origin-and-destination fare matrix rather than distance bands. The six current fare levels are INR 10 (≈ USD 0.10), INR 15 (≈ USD 0.16), INR 20 (≈ USD 0.21), INR 25 (≈ USD 0.26), INR 30 (≈ USD 0.31) and INR 35 (≈ USD 0.37).

Current visitor products include mobile QR tickets and the One Pune RuPay card, a National Common Mobility Card (NCMC). The stored-value card has separate Non-KYC and KYC products and uses tap-in/tap-out at the gates.

The official app produces a QR ticket for scanning at the entry gate. The app is available for Android and iOS.

WhatsApp is another current e-ticket route. One Pune Card users tap at the origin gate and again at the destination; the system calculates and deducts the fare from the card’s chip balance.

The KYC card is issued and first activated at a station counter. It can be recharged at counters or online, but an online recharge requires a chip-balance update at an Add Value Machine or counter.

The Non-KYC product gives 10% off Monday through Friday and 30% off Saturday and Sunday.

Security screening uses metal detectors and baggage scanners; luggage and valuables should remain secured without blocking other passengers.

Line 3’s planned ticketing system includes the One Pune Card, but no integrated fare or cross-operator QR arrangement has been announced. A Maha Metro mobile QR ticket should not be treated as valid for Line 3 unless passenger rules say so.

Both operating lines have a published 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM service window. The timetable does not provide direction-specific first and last departure minutes for PCMC, Swargate, Vanaz or Ramwadi.

Trains run every 6 minutes during peak periods, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Off-peak service runs every 10 minutes during the remaining published hours.

There is no regular overnight metro service. All-night running has occurred only as a festival exception, so late arrivals should arrange a bus, auto-rickshaw or taxi after the service window.

Accessibility provisions include elevators, tactile paths, accessible toilets and wheelchairs, plus ramps and staff assistance. Trains have a wheelchair area with securing equipment in the middle car and an emergency contact facility.

Passengers pass through security screening. The operator also publishes prohibited-article rules. For operational, train, or ticketing questions, call the control room and customer care at 18002705501.

Pune Metro connections to Pune Airport, Pune Junction and Mumbai

Pune Airport has no operating metro station. AAI lists PMPML bus and taxi services, while the practical rail transfer is Ramwadi on the Aqua Line, followed by about 4.3 km by road to PNQ in Lohegaon.

At Pune Junction, a direct foot-overbridge leads into Pune Railway Station on the Aqua Line. Transfer time varies with the arrival platform and station circulation, so extra time is prudent.

Selected trains from CSMT to Pune Junction take 3 hours 15 minutes to 4 hours 5 minutes. Schedules vary by date; the Aqua Line connection begins after arrival at Pune Railway Station. The Mumbai Metro map covers local urban rail at the other end of the intercity journey.

MSRTC lists Dadar East services to Pune Railway Station and Swargate. Journey times vary by departure, but both arrival points connect well: Pune Railway Station connects to the Aqua Line, and Swargate connects to the Purple Line.

By road, the Mumbai to Pune journey is about 150 km and 2 to 3 hours via the access-controlled Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The expressway excludes two-wheelers, three-wheelers and tractors.

The Pune Metro map uses separate labels for operating, construction and proposed corridors. None should be counted as an open passenger route until its own commissioning.

North of PCMC, the current update shows that the four-station Purple Line extension from PCMC toward Nigdi and Bhakti Shakti is under construction. No current official completion date has been announced.

South of Swargate, the awarded 5.5 km underground extension to Katraj has three stations. The Cabinet decision sets a February 2029 target, not an opening guarantee.

West of Vanaz, the 1.1 km Aqua Line 2A extension to Chandani Chowk has two stations; its civil contract has been awarded. The 11.6 km Line 2B east of Ramwadi remains in procurement and pre-construction.

Lines 4 and 4A have Cabinet approval for 31.6 km and 28 elevated stations but remain in procurement. Lines 4B and 4C total 16.7 km and remain proposed at the design-consultancy stage.

Line 3 is the separate PMRDA/PPP project for the Hinjawadi axis. Its July and December 2026 dates are targets. Kharadi is outside the Purple and Aqua station lists, while Pune Airport connectivity remains at study and design-provision stage.

Fun Fact: The Civil Court interchange places the underground Purple Line below the elevated Aqua Line, with stairs, escalators and elevators connecting the two levels.
