Nagpur Metro Map: Key Facts for Travelers

• The map covers two operating lines and 40.0 km of track, with 37 physical stations and one shared interchange at Sitabuldi.

Nagpur Metro service updates

The Nagpur Metro map helps with three practical journeys: reaching Sitabuldi, connecting with Nagpur Junction and traveling toward the airport or MIHAN. Keep this Nagpur Metro map handy when changing trains at Sitabuldi. Several destinations still need a road transfer.

In 2025, Guinness World Records recognized the system’s 5.6 km Kamptee Road structure as the world’s longest double-decker metro viaduct.

According to Maha Metro’s current service record, the operating system consists of the north-south Orange Line and east-west Aqua Line. Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro), a joint venture of India’s central and Maharashtra governments, operates both.

Passenger service began between Khapri and Sitabuldi on March 7, 2019. The Aqua Line followed on January 28, 2020, and the present Phase I endpoints opened on December 11, 2022. Indora Square opened on December 20, 2024.

The system covers 40.0 km, split between about 20.9 km on the Orange Line and 19.2 km on the Aqua Line.

Maha Metro’s FY 2024-25 annual report records 26.9 million journeys, up 5% from 25.5 million in FY 2023-24.

The network map shows 18 Orange Line positions and 20 Aqua Line positions, helping travelers identify the correct transfer before boarding. This produces 38 line positions but 37 physical stations because Sitabuldi appears once on each line as the shared interchange.

Sitabuldi is the only transfer between the two lines, so checking direction and destination there helps travelers avoid riding toward the wrong outer terminus.

How to Read the Nagpur Metro Route Map

Read north to south on the Orange Line and east to west on the Aqua Line. At Sitabuldi, confirm the destination shown on the platform before changing lines.

Nagpur is a transport hub rather than a compact sightseeing city. The network serves Nagpur Junction and the airport corridor; other destinations require road or regional rail transfers.

On the network map, Sitabuldi is the interchange. The Orange Line serves Zero Mile Freedom Park, Kasturchand Park and the airport corridor, while the Aqua Line serves Nagpur Railway Station and Dharampeth College.

According to Maharashtra Tourism, Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve has no metro connection and lies about 140 km from Nagpur. Travel by road, or take a train toward Chandrapur and continue about 45 km by road.

Nagpur Metro Airport and Nagpur Junction Connections

For NAG, use Airport Station on the Orange Line. Airport South, New Airport and Khapri lie farther south and are not substitutes for the station named Airport.

Based on Airports Authority of India terminal data and Maha Metro network coordinates, Airport Station is about 1.1 km from the terminal in a straight line, not by a walking route. Take an auto-rickshaw or taxi for the last mile.

The official Line 1 timetable, effective June 24, 2024, puts the train ride between Airport and Sitabuldi at about 15 minutes. The first citybound service from Airport is at about 6:13 AM and the last is at about 10:07 PM, so early check-ins and late arrivals need a taxi fallback.

For Nagpur Junction, ride the Orange Line to Sitabuldi, transfer to the Aqua Line toward Prajapati Nagar and leave at Nagpur Railway Station, adjacent to the mainline station.

Airport to Sitabuldi takes about 15 minutes and Sitabuldi to Nagpur Railway Station about 4 minutes. Allow at least 19 minutes on trains, plus interchange, waiting and the terminal transfer.

The official fare matrix has no published kilometer bands. A single trip costs INR 10 (≈ USD 0.10) to INR 40 (≈ USD 0.42) depending on the stations selected.

Available products include a paper QR ticket, mobile QR ticket and the operator’s NCMC-based Maha Card. The Day Pass gives unlimited rides on its sale day for INR 100 (≈ USD 1.05).

Buy a paper QR ticket at a counter or vending machine. Customer Care accepts cash and cards at its point-of-sale terminal; UPI QR is available at Customer Care, machines and counters.

The official Nagpur Metro Rail app issues mobile QR tickets and accepts cards, Net Banking and UPI.

Use a paper QR ticket at the entry station printed on the ticket. For travel beyond the selected destination, pay the difference before exiting.

Tap the Maha Card at entry and exit. Keep at least INR 40 (≈ USD 0.42) on the card before entering; its maximum stored balance is INR 2,000 (≈ USD 20.96).

The operator’s timetable page gives a general service window of 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Trains usually run every 10 to 15 minutes, with some edge services up to 20 minutes apart.

End-to-end services on both lines run from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM in the detailed schedules. Shorter edge services include Khapri to Sitabuldi from 5:35 AM and late services toward Sitabuldi at 10:20 PM.

Weekend, public holiday and special-service times may differ. There is no regular overnight metro service, so use a taxi or ride-hailing service after the last suitable train.

Stations provide ramps, elevators, tactile paths and priority seating. Wheelchairs, wide gates, wheelchair areas, accessible toilets and Customer Care support passengers with reduced mobility.

Security includes X-ray scanners, metal detectors and CCTV. Passengers may carry one item up to 25 kg and 80 x 50 x 30 cm; dangerous goods and bundles are prohibited.

The current map includes only Phase I. Phase 2 is under construction in four directions. Phase 3 remains at the planning and detailed project report stage.

Nagpur Metro Phase 2 Routes and Construction Status

Phase 2 adds 43.8 km and 32 stations across four extensions. Work is underway in every direction, but none belongs in the operating station list.

The government project dashboard records the May 2026 project status and retains December 2027 as the target for completion of Phase 2 as a whole. This is a project target, not a guaranteed passenger opening date for every extension.

According to a Press Information Bureau update dated June 13, 2026, Phase 3 remains a proposal in planning and DPR work, with no construction sanction, start date or opening year.

Nagpur Broad Gauge Metro: A Separate Regional Rail Project

Broad Gauge is a regional-rail proposal on Indian Railways tracks toward Ramtek, Bhandara, Wardha and Katol, not an operating branch of the standard-gauge city metro.

The latest Lok Sabha reply dates from 2022, when Maharashtra had approved the DPR and submitted it to the Ministry of Railways. No construction or launch date is announced for 2026, so the project does not appear on the urban route map for Nagpur.
